Reminiscing

Lian Kok Hai | 4F 2016 | Watercolor on paper

The installation revolves around childhood and the passing of time. Each day’s passing is another experience, opportunity, and growth. Yet looking back on one’s childhood, one cannot help but experience a sense of nostalgia. The yearning for returning to the rose-tinted carefree innocence conflicts with the eagerness to advance on to greater heights. The fleeting birds and intangible projections reflect this. The back-facing portraits of a sentimental gaze are representative of the emotional conflict of anticipations and nostalgia.
